Party Politics
Political parties are groups of people who work together to run the country. They share ideas about how things should be done and should work together and across party divides to find compromises that benefit the most people. The party that receives the most votes gets to run the government. This means they influence the civil servants and shape how you receive what you need. The parties elect their own leaders and run campaigns to try and grab the public’s attention and get votes. Many people also complain about how politicians behave. But, remember, they work for you! If you don’t like the way they are acting, tell them.
